Rag & Bone Fit 2 – Tonal Rinse Review

Rag & Bone Fit 2 – Tonal Rinse Review

Started in New York in 2002, Rag & Bone has become recognized for the way it melds British heritage with American edge and innovation. The importance of quality, expert craftsmanship and attention to detail are informed by the brand’s core philosophies. And their products speak these philosophies for themselves. Now, the brand has perfected the art of denim manufacturing and carries a number of different fits and styles for Men and Women. The Rag & Bone Fit 2 embodies everything the brand has built and stood for today.

Rag & Bone Fit 2 – The Fit:

Fit 2 is a great option for those looking for an updated interpretation of the classic ‘slim-straight’ jean. The front rise sits nicely on the hips, while the back rise is just high enough to avoid showing too much skin when you bend over or crouch down. Additionally, there is a comfortable amount of room in the top block of the jean (from the front rise to the knee), and a slight taper in the bottom block (from the knee to the ankle). Finally, this jean comes in a 34″ which comes in handy for those who need it. For those who don’t, consider hemming!

*For sizing, we recommend you go down one size from your regular size as this jean tends to fit big.

The Fabric:

This fabric’s key attribute is in the jean’s name: Tonal Rinse. A jean that has been rinsed has been put through a wash cycle before it hits the shelves. This process causes the jeans to soften while still maintaining the dark indigo colour. The 98% cotton and 2% polyurethane composition also contributes to this jean being extremely comfortable to wear from the get-go. The ‘tonal’ stitching (that is, stitching that matches the colour of the denim) allows you the freedom to dress this jean up with a sports coat or down with your favourite comfy sweatshirt and kicks.

Final Thoughts:

This jean is great for those city dwellers who need to be able to go from work to a night out without having the time or means to change in-between. It combines comfort with sophistication — and that is, in our opinion, a difficult medium to balance. With that being said, if the Fit 2 doesn’t sound your cup of tea, we carry two other Men’s fits from Rag & Bone (Fit 1 and Fit 3). Conversely, if the ‘Tonal Rinse’ fabric isn’t quite what you’re looking for, we generally carry the Rag & Bone Fit 2 in at least 2-3 fabrics throughout the year. Finally, if the Fit 2 Tonal Rinse sounds like it may be what you’re looking for, you can find it online and at all three of our stores (in Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary).
