Last October we introduced you to Char Kennedy, a talented and driven industrial designer who creates objects that people use to shape their lives. We’re checking in with her to see which projects are keeping her on the go and how her reliable Nudie Pipe Leds have changed throughout the ride.
Back in September of 2015, we started the first chapter of the Weathered Project with an introduction to Mitch Kirilo, Gastown Tattoo Parlour artist and owner. Over the past four months, Mitch journeyed around the country in his sturdy Tellasons – we’re interested to learn how he (and his winter armour) fared over the Winter.

Sometimes in January it’s like we have to remind the weather that it already had it’s chance at winter, it should be over by now. But always, the temperatures drop and the rain becomes relentless, but if we’re after one glimpse of joy it’s that this is the best time of the season to start breaking in a new pair of raw denim.
The vibe was inclusively exclusive, where stating your name at the door meant the difference between witnessing a unique event first hand or watching from the outside, peering through a pair of large glass windows.
For students of an independent-heavy mentality, community is superfluous. It’s extra, it’s garnish. It’s considered strength to stand solitary, to be your own well-oiled machine.
There is something so relatable to the fear of writing in the first page of a fresh notebook or deciding what you will draw into the first page of a new sketchbook, even taking a new passport picture offers a crippling glimpse at what could be a fresh start.
